A LIONS NEWS THANK YOU AND JUNIOR LEAGUE UPDATE TO ALL WITHIN THE MAROUBRA LIONS FAMILY

Where has the season gone ?
For many, it seems just a short time ago that we were all commencing pre-season training.
Tomorrow we will bid farewell to our Mini and Mod League teams as their 2026 season concludes.
They are the future of this proud club as we move forward. With wonderful committed and energetic team officials, together with a group of fantastic parents topped off by our young boys and girls – the future of the Maroubra RLFC looks bright.
Our senior teams complete their final comp round tomorrow with our Under 14 and 17 teams already having qualified for the semi final series. We wish them all the best in the weeks ahead.
FINAL GAME DAY AT SNAPE – THANK YOU TO OUR VOLUNTEERS
Tomorrow also will see the final games played at Snape for the season.
Can we take this opportunity to thank our unsung heroes Sue and Mick who through all sorts of conditions acted as volunteer sideline ground officials.
To Clive our BBQ Master a special thanks. Each week he is the first to arrive at Snape (often before sunrise) to prepare the BBQ tucker later to be devoured by the hungry hordes.
Thanks to Di, Mel, Wendy and Andrew who ensured all canteen requirements were ordered, collected and prepared for sale each week.
Finally, to those parents who assisted with the setup and packup of our Snape ground equipment on game days over the season – your efforts are much appreciated.
To the volunteer team officials of our Lions teams in 2026 – a great big thank you for your commitment and development to allow all of our boys and girls the opportunity to take the field in the Red and Green this season.
JUNIOR PRESENTATION
Our Under 5 – 11 Junior Presentation will be held at Manhattan Superbowl next Saturday 15 August.
All teams have been advised of event scheduling for the day and it is important that all those attending arrive on time. A great time is assured for all of the kids.
JUNIOR LEAGUE UPDATE
Recently your Club Executive and junior coaches together with those of all other clubs attended a seminar “The Future – South Sydney Juniors”.
Across most junior clubs there have been many challenges faced this season.
The goal of the seminar was to provide a healthy sustainable level of junior rugby league for future generations within the district and grow the game from the bottom age groups up.
All clubs provided insight to their respective situations which was informative.
Our club was already in the process of actioning a number of initiatives going forward however we welcome the collaborative best practice measures to be undertaken with all of the Junior League clubs.
Finally, on behalf of the Maroubra RLFC committee, we trust that you have enjoyed a positive junior league experience with us this season and we look forward to you all coming on board with us again next season.
Thank you.
