Don’t these smiles say it all ?

The inaugural South Sydney Juniors Girls Competition has now concluded & the overwhelming feedback is that is was a resounding success, both on & off the field.

Played in a non competitive format in the 8, 10 & 12 year old age groups the quality of play, skill & sportsmanship by all was something you had to see.

Another positive to come from this comp was the first class behaviour of all of the spectators who attended the games each week applauding the good play from both of the teams on the field.

Former Lions legend & current club sponsor John Pennisi from Easy Refrigeration had two of his young daughters play & let me tell you all they are two stars on the field.

On behalf of the Maroubra Lions RLFC we would like to thank everyone involved with our teams especially all of the young girls as well as all from the other teams who made the comp such a great success.

Congratulations to our fellow junior league clubs the South Eastern Seagulls & the Botany Rams for stepping up to sign on for this wonderful initiative.

Thank you also to Rueben Wilson the South Sydney NRL Game Development Officer the organiser of the competition & to the South Sydney Junior League who backed his concept. Finally thanks to the young referees from the South Sydney Referees Association for officiating each Saturday.

We look forward to next season & hope that all of the other clubs within our junior league have seen what has been achieved & come on board.
