The AGM of the Maroubra Rugby League Football Club was recently held in the Horizons Lounge of the South Maroubra Surf Life Saving Club.

We thank Jenny from Top Cat Catering the operator of Horizons for hosting our AGM & also South Maroubra Surf Club President Paul Fownes for arranging the venue.

Club President Andrew Nikas thanked those in attendance & reported on what was a difficult season due to COVID-19. He thanked the committee & volunteers who got us back on the field this year when it looked like we would have to draw a line through the season. He mentioned our support of the South Sydney Junior league along with the financial impact of the pandemic on our sponsors.

Andrew stated that our Under 17 Golds & Under 13 Bronze teams were premiers in the NSW Rugby League combined competitions. Congratulations went to the respective coaches John Teaupa & Drew Richardson along with the all the players & officials.

Club Secretary Peter Kondilios endorsed the President’s report. He then made a specific note of thanks to Georgie Israel, Tara Minto, Wendy Nikas & Frank Restuccia outlining each’s valuable contribution to our season in such a challenging year.

Peter spoke then on volunteers & that is was not a closed shop. Any contribution that someone can make is very much appreciated. A volunteer could spare anything from 10 minutes to a couple of hours to assist the club. A role could be as simple as picking up the bread rolls on a Sunday from the bakery but this simple task allows someone else to undertake another job. He ended by saying that in his opinion the more you get involved in a volunteer organisation the better the overall experience.

The election of our club office bearers for 2021 saw –

CLUB PATRONS – Stephen (Mick) Fisher, Keith McCraw & Matthew Thistlethwaite MP
