FORMER MAROUBRA LION MAKES HIS NRL DEBUT FOR THE SOUTH SYDNEY RABBITOHS
Last night 18 year old Campbell Graham made his NRL debut for the South Sydney Rabbitohs against the St George Illawarra Dragons at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Coming from preparing for his HSC trial exams, he handled the occasion with a fine display on the wing with St George repeatedly targeting him with high kicks – all of which he took like a seasoned pro.
It was just a couple of years ago that Campbell transferred over from the South Eastern Seagulls with some mates to the Mighty Maroubra Lions Under 13s’ & was coached by the highly respected James Pickering (himself a former Bulldogs & Roosters first grader).
Wearing the Red & Green of the Maroubra Lions he even at that age showed enormous potential & if your aging Roving Reporter’s memory serves correct was selected from Maroubra into the Junior Bunnies development squads.
After a couple of seasons his Maroubra team splintered with players transferring to other district clubs with Campbell moving onto the Coogee Randwick Wombats.
From there he went through the Souths Juniors Harold Matthews & SG Ball Cup squads, Rabbitohs Holden Cup squad & the Rabbitohs feeder side the North Sydney Bears Intrust Cup team. Recently he was selected for the Australian Junior Kangaroos.
Congratulations to Campbell Graham on his debut in the NRL & best wishes to him for the HSC from everyone at the Maroubra Lions RLFC.
He is a player you will be hearing much more of in the future !
